The holidays are a time for family, friends, holiday parties and get-togethers. It’s also a time of stress and strife for many. The hustle and bustle of shopping, hosting guests at your home and having to deal with certain family members are just some examples of the stressors people face during the holidays. Here are 4 tips to help you cope with stress.
- Get organized. Make a list of the things you would like to accomplish, for example, and set aside time to do them. Make sure you don’t add too many items to your list. You don’t want to become stressed out or overwhelmed.
- Don’t be afraid to ask for help. If you are hosting the holiday dinner, for instance, instead of cooking all the dishes, ask your guests to each bring a dish. If friends and family offer to help set up before and clean up after dinner, accept it! Wearing yourself out should not be an option if you want to remain stress-free.
- Learn to say no. If for any reason you aren’t able to host the big dinner or have house guests over the holidays, do not be afraid to speak up. It is okay to say no.
- Take care of yourself. You do not need to be everything to everyone all of the time. Take a break and pamper yourself. You matter too and you deserve that time just for yourself.
Your Holiday Season should be filled with love, fun and lots of laughter. Say goodbye to that extra stress and enjoy your time with your family and friends. Season’s greetings, everyone!
