4 Tips to Help You Maintain Your New Year’s Resolutions
Categories: Family Therapy, Individual Therapy, Therapy
Every year is an opportunity to start fresh, and many of us create New Year’s Resolutions to help as part of that process. For the first few weeks, the excitement and motivation is there, but as time goes on, our motivation becomes less and less and the resolutions we were so excited to achieve become all but forgotten. Here are 4 tips to help you keep up with those New Year’s resolutions.
- Change your resolutions to more realistic goals. Are your goals truly attainable? Do you honestly think you have the time and can make the effort to achieve them? If not, then change your goals to ones that are more attainable.
- Break each New Year’s Resolution down into smaller goals. Instead of looking at each goal in its entirety, which can be overwhelming, take your goals and break them down into smaller, more easily attainable steps.
- Reward yourself as you accomplish each step. You don’t have to go all out with regards to your rewards. A pat on the back or a “yay me” can be enough to help motivate you to continue.
- Stop being hard on yourself. Don’t criticize yourself if you haven’t achieved your goals by a certain date. When obstacles get in the way, step back and take a break. The solution to the problem will eventually come to you.
Your New Year’s Resolutions are feasible so don’t give up. As long as you’re able to stay focused and motivated, you can achieve just about anything. Wishing you all a very happy, prosperous and healthy New Year from all of us at Creative Solutions 4 Kids.
